Pharmacy Billing Specialist

Job Summary
Process customer bills and insurance claims accurately and timely, including research and establishment of patient eligibility with private and government entities. Assist with daily and month-end billing functions, procedures, and reporting while maintaining and auditing patient files to defend third-party audits. Provide timely responses to billing inquiries via phone or electronic communications, resolving issues regarding insurance eligibility, coverage, and benefits. Enter and update patient information into pharmacy and billing systems, process payments and credits, and rebill rejected claims as necessary. Rotate through departments to gain functional knowledge of workflows and follow all applicable government regulations including HIPAA.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED
- Pharmacy Technician license/certification/registration per state requirements
- 1+ years of related experience
- Ability to work independently and deliver to deadlines
- Great attention to detail and accuracy
- Ability to excel in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment working on multiple tasks simultaneously, while adhering to strict deadlines
- Quality minded; motivated to seek out errors and inquire about inaccuracies
- Ability to interact effectively with others in an office environment
- Manage conflict
- Handle stressful situations and deadlines
- Ability to work flexible hours
- Must live in the Springfield, MO area
Desired Qualifications
- National Certification preferred (PTCB)
- Advanced computer skills
- Pharmacy information system experience
- Ability to think ahead, plan and manage time efficiently
- Ability to analyze causes and solve problems at functional level
- Ability to build relationships with business unit management and become 'trusted advisor'
- Ability to work effectively and collaboratively with all team members
