Job Summary
Receive, process, handle, store, and ship biospecimens per study specifications while ensuring compliance with all applicable Federal, State, and local laws. Prepare research sample collection supplies, record data in electronic systems, and complete shipping logs and manifests. Perform administrative functions including work tally records, scanning forms, and filing. Contribute to inventory control and replenish reagents and supplies daily. Sanitize laboratory equipment and perform daily, weekly, monthly, and yearly maintenance. Participate in on-call rotation for emergency response for drug and specimen storage. Work Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. with rotating on-call for after hours and weekend coverage.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma
- General knowledge of medical terminology
- High attention to detail
- Strong organizational skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work well independently
- Organizational skills to troubleshoot unplanned situations while still meeting established deadlines
- Proficient level of experience with Microsoft Office
- Ability to learn new software
- Must maintain punctuality
- Good attendance
- Flexibility to work hours to accommodate clinic patient schedule
- Able to perform manual tasks that require the use of fine muscle motor skills
- Able to lift 40 pounds
- Able to stand and / or sit for prolonged periods
- Able to freely bend/stretch
- Able to access, input and retrieve information from computer
- Utilizing personal vehicle to transport specimens may be required on occasion
Desired Qualifications
- Associate or bachelor's degree in a chemical, physical, biological or clinical laboratory science or medical technology
- Experience in a laboratory setting
- Solid understanding of laboratory techniques and safety protocols
- Experience in data management
- Experience in logistics and operations
- Experience with electronic medical record program(s)
- Experience with laboratory information systems
