Job Summary
Prepare, fill, label, and dispense drugs, parenteral medications, IV solutions, and drug containers accurately and safely while ensuring all issued medications meet legal and quality standards. Monitor patient drug therapies for safety, appropriateness, and effectiveness, assessing age-specific criteria and providing drug information to physicians, nurses, and patients. Oversee routine pharmacy department operations, manage inventory, supervise technicians, and participate in formulary management and Automated Dispensing Machine changes. Participate in Rapid Response Teams and Code Blue situations as required. Maintain day-to-day transaction records and complete annual competency evaluations. Maintain effective interpersonal relationships with all healthcare team members.
Required Qualifications
- Graduate of an ACPE-accredited School of Pharmacy
- BS in Pharmacy
- Current, active license to practice pharmacy in the State of New Mexico (verified by the New Mexico Board of Pharmacy)
- Strong clinical knowledge of pharmacology, therapeutics, and age-specific medication considerations
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to work independently and make sound clinical decisions
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in medication preparation and dispensing
- Leadership and supervisory skills
- Proficiency in pharmacy information systems and automated dispensing technology
- Commitment to patient safety, quality improvement, and regulatory compliance
- Must be physically able to operate pharmacy equipment
- Ability to lift and carry light loads up to 40 pounds
- Stooping, kneeling, walking, and standing for extended periods (4–8 hours)

- 1–2 years of hospital pharmacy experience
- New graduates with strong clinical rotations
