Job Summary
Disburse medications prescribed by physicians and provide counseling to patients and staff on drug use, interactions, and side effects. Review and verify prescriptions for appropriate dosing, drug-food interactions, and therapeutic appropriateness, making decisions on generic and therapeutic substitutions per formulary requirements. Serve as a drug information resource for providers and internal clients while collaborating with the health care team to ensure patient understanding of therapy outcomes. Maintain compliance with Arizona State Board of Pharmacy regulations, Joint Commission standards, and 340B Drug Pricing Program rules. Provide operational oversight of pharmacy staff, including training and monitoring of pharmacy interns, while ensuring adherence to safety, infection control, and loss prevention protocols.
Required Qualifications
- A Diploma from an accredited College of Pharmacy
- A current Pharmacist License in accordance with the Arizona State Board of Pharmacy requirements
- Current certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) for health care providers
- Level I fingerprint clearance card: current valid and in good standing or have applied for it within seven working days after beginning employment
- Reliable transportation that can meet any operational reassignments of the organization during the workday
- Valid driver's license
- Compliance with Arizona vehicle insurance requirements
- Current valid and in good standing Level One (1) Non-IVP Fingerprint Clearance card (must be received within 30 days after the new employee hire date or transfer date)
- Influenza vaccination status (subject to exemptions and accommodations when required by law)
- Undergo drug testing prior to employment
- Subject to post-accident, reasonable suspicion, return to duty and follow up drug and alcohol testing in compliance with Federal and State regulations for alcohol and controlled substance testing
Desired Qualifications
- Board Certified by the Board of Pharmacy (Ambulatory Care or Pharmacist Specialist) or Certified Diabetes Educator
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) with the ability to speak, read and write in both languages
