Job Summary
Accurately and safely dispense prescription medications, conduct comprehensive medication reviews to assess appropriateness and safety, and provide clear instructions on usage and precautions. Oversee day-to-day pharmacy operations including inventory management, medication storage, and prescription processing while leading and mentoring a large team of pharmacy technicians. Serve as a trusted resource for healthcare professionals, delivering accurate drug information and communicating directly with medical professionals regarding patient regimens. Ensure full compliance with federal, state, and local pharmacy laws, monitor adverse drug events, and administer immunizations. Maintain all necessary certifications and licensure while staying current on pharmacy practice advancements.
Required Qualifications
- Active Pharmacy License in the state of employment
- Not on the DEA Excluded Parties List
- Immunization Certification through an accredited organization (e.g., APhA)
- Free of pending felony charges or convictions for criminal offenses involving controlled substances
- Strong knowledge of pharmacy laws, regulations, and standards of practice
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Keen attention to detail and accuracy in medication dispensing
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-volume environment
- Proficiency with pharmacy software systems for order entry and medication verification
