Job Summary
Fill and dispense medication orders while ensuring proper handling, usage, and storage of drugs. Interpret physician orders for accuracy, suggest alternate therapies when discrepancies arise, and prepare special dosage forms not commercially available. Train, supervise, and educate supportive personnel and students, acting as a preceptor and pharmacy liaison to nursing staff. Maintain quality control standards through drug usage evaluations, monthly nursing station checks, and controlled substance record keeping. Conduct continuing education to stay current on legal requirements and recent field developments.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor of science degree in pharmacy from an accredited program
- IV Certification
- One to three years of experience as a registered pharmacist in a hospital

- Advanced degree or enrollment in advanced degree program
