Prepare and dispense medications, drugs, and other pharmaceuticals according to professional standards under general supervision. Verify patient information, physician authorization, and insurance approval before admixing drugs as ordered by physicians. Calculate correct dosages, convert between metric and apothecary equivalents, and ensure accurate preparation of all formulas within OSHA and interoffice guidelines. Maintain and evaluate patient profiles, comprehensive drug data files, and inventory records while checking orders for completeness and incompatibilities. Provide drug counseling to patients, answer requests from healthcare professionals, and document all activities including temperature logs and protocol usage. Adhere to quality assurance policies, legal regulations, and accreditation requirements while maintaining confidentiality of patient and medical staff information.
