Job Summary
Dispense medications safely and accurately while supervising pharmacy assistants and technicians on sterile and non-sterile compounding, calculations, and drug distribution. Maintain clinical expertise in a designated area, provide drug information to physicians, nurses, and patients, and ensure work areas remain clean and orderly. Rotate through dispensary, compounding, and clinical staff duties, including evening, weekend, and overnight coverage. Train new personnel, serve as a preceptor for pharmacy students and residents, and participate in quality assurance programs, drug utilization reviews, and departmental committees. Maintain knowledge of hospital policies, complete incident reports, and assist in developing pharmacy programs and services.
Required Qualifications
- Vulnerable Sector Check
- Graduate of a Pharmacy degree from a recognized university
- Licensed or eligible for licensure to practice pharmacy by The Ontario College of Pharmacist
- Minimum of two (2) years experience as a Hospital Pharmacist
- Bilingual (English/ French)
- Completion of a hospital pharmacy residency program at a recognized Canadian teaching hospital and /or at least five (5) years experience in hospital
