Job Summary
Receive and review prescription orders, assessing therapy for therapeutic appropriateness and ensuring proper documentation. Counsel patients on medication administration while interacting with physicians, insurance providers, and pharmacy technicians to coordinate delivery. Provide clinical education, monitor drug use, and intervene when necessary to assure safe and effective medication therapy. Comply with federal, state, and local regulations, HIPAA policies, and AbbVie privacy standards. Disinfect and clean returned medical devices, conducting functional testing as appropriate. Maintain licensure in Illinois and complete required training and competency assessments. Handle on-call rotations for after-hours coverage.
Required Qualifications
- Licensed pharmacist engaged in the practice of pharmacy
- Bachelor or PharmD degree in Pharmacy from an accredited pharmacy program
- Licensure in the State of Illinois
- Must be comfortable interacting with patients and health care providers to provide drug information, advice and counseling
- Must be willing and able to handle on-call rotations for after-hours patient coverage
- Must have professional communication skills
