Pharmacist

Performs dispensing functions after physician order evaluation and computer entry. Continuously monitors patient medication regimens. Under protocol, determines requested medication dosages, orders the medication, and orders appropriate laboratory tests to monitor treatment. Supervises Technicians to assure medication preparation and delivery are carried out. Evaluates physician orders for safety across infant to geriatric populations. Performs accurate computer order entry, dispenses medications, checks Pyxis systems, handles share of CII transactions, and oversees technicians. Performs IV and chemotherapy admixture and provides clinical/therapeutic monitoring of medications. Consults with medical, nursing, and professional staff regarding medication therapy and information. Monitors narcotic inventory and participates in quarterly nursing liaison activities. Familiar with fire, disaster and safety procedures in the work area. Performs similar or related duties as assigned.
