Job Summary
Licensed Pharmacists deliver inpatient and outpatient pharmacy services to Veterans at the Phoenix VA Health Care System (PVAHCS). Responsibilities include dispensing and verifying medications, providing patient medication counseling, reviewing prescriptions for accuracy and drug interactions, communicating with providers about non-formulary or questionable prescriptions, assisting with drug inventory and security, inputting and verifying orders in CPRS/VISTA, ensuring compliance with state and federal regulations (including controlled substances handling), and maintaining collaboration with clinical staff. The role supports a 24/7 facility with rotating day/evening/overnight shifts (including weekends/holidays) across multiple Phoenix locations.
Required Qualifications
- Education: Graduate of an ACPE-accredited School or College of Pharmacy with a BS Pharmacy or Pharm.D.
- Licensure: Active, unrestricted pharmacist license in any U.S. State, Territory, or the District of Columbia; must be authorized to dispense controlled substances.
- Certifications: BLS and ACLS current.
- Experience: VA experience and knowledge of VISTA/CPRS systems preferred but not required.
- Ability to work in a 24/7 facility and rotate shifts (6:00–14:30, 14:00–22:30, 19:00–06:00, 18:00–06:00).
