Job Summary
Review, interpret, and verify inpatient medication orders for appropriate dosing, route, frequency, allergies, interactions, and therapeutic effectiveness. Dispense medications, prepare and compound intravenous medications and parenteral nutrition, and accurately package, label, and distribute controlled substances. Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and multidisciplinary teams to optimize medication therapy while maintaining compliance with quality assurance, security, and hazardous medication handling procedures. Monitor medication safety, maintain accurate electronic health record documentation, and assist in the orientation and training of pharmacy technicians and residents. Participate as a designated Code Blue responder when assigned. This full-time, on-site role at Brooke Army Medical Center in San Antonio operates on a 7 on 7 off schedule with rotating shifts.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Pharmacy from a college or university accredited by the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE)
- Current, full, active, and unrestricted license to practice as a Pharmacist in any U.S. state, territory, or the District of Columbia
- Minimum one (1) year of inpatient pharmacy experience within the past two (2) years
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- U.S. Citizenship
- Must meet all government credentialing and security requirements for employment within a Military Treatment Facility
- 7 on 7 off schedule
- Rotating shifts as required by the Medical Treatment Facility
