Job Summary

Lead daily specialty mail-order pharmacy fulfillment operations, including dispensing, RPh verification, shipping, cold-chain handling, and delivery issue resolution. Ensure compliance with federal/state laws, accreditation standards, HIPAA, and internal SOPs while managing staff scheduling, training, and performance for pharmacists and technicians. Drive quality programs like medication error prevention, incident reporting, and CAPA. Oversee inventory management for specialty drugs, REMS programs, and hazardous drugs, maintaining cold-chain integrity and developing procedures for temperature excursions. Monitor operational KPIs to implement improvements and manage vendor relationships with wholesalers and couriers. Prepare for and lead audits/inspections, maintaining regulatory readiness. Support pharmacy system optimization and workflow tools.

Required Qualifications

  • PharmD or BS degree from an accredited College of Pharmacy
  • Current, unrestricted licensure as a Registered Pharmacist in the state of residence
  • 5+ years as a licensed Pharmacist
  • 3+ years' experience in a leadership role with direct reports
  • Knowledge of inventory control
  • Knowledge of state and federal laws and regulations pertaining to the legal operation of a pharmacy

Desired Qualifications

  • ability to gain reciprocity within 4 months
  • 1+ year of professional experience as a Specialty Pharmacist
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Specialty Pharmacy drugs including REMS and Limited Distribution Products best practices
  • 3+ years' experience managing specialty pharmacy mail operations, cold-chain shipping, or limited distribution networks
  • Experience with accreditation (URAC/ACHC) and regulatory inspections (BOP, DEA if applicable)
  • Familiarity with REMS programs, hazardous drug handling (USP <800>), and specialty payer requirements
  • Lean/Six Sigma training or equivalent continuous improvement experience
  • Multi-state licensure experience and/or oversight of non-resident pharmacy requirements
