Job Summary
Pharmacist in Charge (PIC) will plan, organize, and direct the overall operation of the Pharmacy Department, supervising personnel and pharmacy workflow, ensuring patient care quality standards, managing procurement and inventory of pharmaceuticals, participating in budgeting and education, and maintaining records. Responsibilities include dispensing and verification of medications, computer order-entry, inventory control, supervision of staff, and ensuring compliance with local, state, and federal regulations. The role requires strong communication skills, adherence to standards of practice, and involvement in CQI activities, continuing education, and staff training. Preferred qualifications include MTM Training/Certification and prior PIC experience. Must be licensed as a Pharmacist and possess a PharmD or Baccalaureate degree; BLS appropriate to healthcare settings may be required.
Required Qualifications
- Graduation from an ACPE-accredited School of Pharmacy; Baccalaureate or PharmD degree required
- Current and valid registration and licensure by the State Board of Pharmacy as a Pharmacist
- Ability to uphold HIPAA privacy rule standards
- Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers (BLS) certification, as necessary
