Job Summary
Prepare and dispense medication orders per physician request while ensuring safe, appropriate, and cost-effective therapies. Supervise pharmacy technicians, verify their daily activities, and correct errors in a constructive manner. Review prescriptions for accuracy and appropriateness, resolve problem prescriptions independently, and counsel patients on medications, side effects, and drug interactions. Maintain accurate patient profiles, inventory controlled substances per NYS and federal regulations, and ensure full compliance with state laws and accreditation guidelines. Interact with providers to monitor medication effectiveness and participate in interdisciplinary teams to address discharge barriers.
Required Qualifications
- 5 year degree in Pharmacy or PharmD
- Must maintain all requirements including continuing education as mandated for by the New York State Board of Pharmacy
- Minimum one year experience as a registered pharmacist
- Licensed and currently registered in the state of New York to practice pharmacy
- Medium Work - Exerting up to 50 lbs. for force occasionally, and/or up to 20 lbs. of force frequently, and/or up to 10 lbs. of force constantly to move objects
- Occasional balancing, climbing, crouching, kneeling, lifting, pulling, pushing, reaching, Stooping, walking
- Frequent grasping, hearing, repetitive motion, seeing/monitor/computer use, standing, talking, visual acuity (color, depth, perception), fit testing
- Occasional bodily fluids/bloodborne exposure, chemical
- Occasional extreme temperatures, vibration, wet and/or humid, dust, fumes, gases, mists, odors
- Occasional Travel - The job may require travel from time- to-time, but not on a regular basis
