Job Summary

Prepare and dispense drug orders per physician request, interpret orders, and transcribe them to computerized patient medication profiles accurately. Compound and dispense pharmaceuticals including sterile products, chemotherapy, and parenteral nutrition products. Issue controlled substances to patient care areas and maintain records as required by law. Supervise and direct pharmacy support personnel, verify daily activities of technicians, and participate in performance appraisals. Organize and prioritize work assignments to ensure timely pharmacy services while completing medication storage area inspections. Currently licensed to practice pharmacy in Texas; primarily works the day shift with additional hours as needed.

Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Graduate of an ACPE accredited School of Pharmacy with a BS Pharmacy or higher degree
  • Currently licensed to practice pharmacy in the state of Texas
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing
  • Ability to work independently with minimal direct supervision
  • Ability to handle frequent interruptions
  • Ability to adapt to changes in workload and work schedule
  • Ability to set priorities
  • Ability to make critical decisions
  • Ability to respond quickly to emergency requests
  • Ability to distinguish between numbers and symbols
  • Hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity with substantial movement of wrist and/or fingers
  • Corrected vision and hearing to normal or near normal range
  • Ability to lift over twenty five (25) pounds
  • Ability to work other hours as needed, including weekends
