Job Summary
Pharmacist - Clinical (PRN) provides medication order entry and verification, resolves issues related to dosing, interactions, and therapeutic substitutions; completes clinical pharmacology interventions and monitoring, conducts consults such as pharmacokinetic dosing, anticoagulant dosing, and renal dose adjustments, and offers education to staff and patients. It involves coordinating with healthcare professionals for cost-effective substitutions, investigating adverse drug reactions and medication safety, conducting medication use evaluation studies, supervising technicians, overseeing sterile compounding and IV room duties, and participating in committee work. The role includes time-limited, PRN scheduling and supporting clinical pharmacy initiatives.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in pharmacy or Doctor of Pharmacy required; Doctor of Pharmacy preferred
- Current pharmacist licensure with the Texas State Board of Pharmacy
- Hospital experience preferred but not required
- Interpersonal skills to interact with patients, guests, physicians, and other employees
