Job Summary
Provide pharmacy consulting services to patients regarding medication usage, drug interactions, and preventive healthcare. Perform pharmacist tasks including compounding, drug therapy reviews, verification, and accurate dispensing of prescribed medications. Counsel patients on side effects, contraindications, and over-the-counter products while collaborating with medical providers as needed. Manage pharmacy operations by opening and closing shifts, coordinating activities, and ensuring compliance with state and federal controlled substance laws. Process insurance and 340B claims, follow up with providers on dosages and allergies, and perform clinical services such as immunizations and flu shots. Assist the pharmacist-in-charge with team training, hiring, performance coaching, and analyzing financial and inventory data. Maintain accurate records, ensure safety protocols including hand washing and suicide screening, and stay current on CE requirements and pharmacy systems.
Required Qualifications
- Bilingual (English Spanish or English-Creole)
- Computer knowledge
- Knowledge of the disease concept of chemical dependency, chemical dependency treatment, and group dynamics
- Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel
- Excellent organizational, communication, problem solving, and teamwork skills
- Able to work with a multicultural and diverse population
- Sensitivity and knowledge of the LGBT community
- Current knowledge and skills related to pharmacy and healthcare
- Current on all CE requirements required by state
- Ability to greet internal or external customers with courtesy, making eye contact, and responding with a proper tone and nonverbal language
- Ability to listen to internal or external customers attentively, reassuring an understanding of the request and providing appropriate options or resolutions
- Ability to provide required services by following established protocols
- Ability to take initiative and anticipate internal or external customer needs by engaging them in the process and following up as needed
- Ability to prioritize internal or external customer requests to ensure prompt and effective response is provided
- Ability to complete all required training
- Ability to participate in regular case staffing to discuss procedures and quality assurance with the medical team
- Ability to ensure staff maintain agency guidelines relating to safety, outreach and confidentiality
- Ability to ensure proper hand washing according to Centers for Disease Control and Prevention guidelines
- Ability to document patient's medications correctly
- Ability to ensure each new client receives screening for their risk for suicide
- Ability to understand and appropriately act upon assigned role in Emergency Code System
- Ability to understand and perform assigned role in Agency Continuity of Operations Plan (COOP)
- Ability to ensure outposted staff understand the safety requirements of the location in which they are posted
- Ability to engage patients by greeting them and offering assistance with products and services
- Ability to resolve patients issues in timely manner and answer questions to ensure a positive patient experience
- Ability to counsel patients and answer their questions regarding usage of medicine, side effects, interactions, contraindications, over-the-counter products
- Ability to collaborate/refers to medical provider as needed to ensure medication is taken correctly, health needs are addressed, and patient is satisfied with service levels received
- Ability to perform pharmacist tasks including compounding, drug therapy reviews, verification, and medication management
- Ability to review, interpret, and accurately dispense prescribed medications
- Ability to ensure the pharmacy operates in accordance to regulations, Care Resource policies and standards
- Ability to assist pharmacist-in-charge with establishing procedures that promote efficient workflow in pharmacy including assigning roles, coordinating activities and soliciting team member suggestions
- Ability to ensure the elements of Good Faith Dispensing are met in conjunction with state and federal controlled substance laws when filling prescriptions
- Ability to maintain current knowledge of pharmacy operating systems and technology to provide support to patients, as well as pharmacy team members
- Ability to propose and implement enhancements to pharmacy systems to further promote productivity
- Ability to ensure an accurate processing of insurance and 340B claims to resolve patient issues and prevent payment rejections or 340B compliance concerns
- Ability to follow up with insurance companies, as well SAS medical providers and participate in 3rd party audits
- Ability to follow up with medical providers to clarify prescribed medications, dosages, refills, interactions, and allergies to suggest alternative medications and answer medical provider questions
- Ability to perform clinical and wellness services such as immunizations, flu shots, diabetes awareness, and other preventive healthcare services
- Ability to assist and support the pharmacist-in-charge in analyzing performance data including pharmacy financial, patient service, and inventory management
- Ability to develop and maintain a good relationship with all staff and providers within Care Resource
- Ability to participate in company events
- Ability to maintain accurate and confidential records and documentation
- Ability to assist the pharmacist-in-charge with team member training and hiring
- Ability to reinforce the direction of the pharmacist-in-charge in team member performance by coaching and providing constructive feedback, monitoring patient service, and fostering team member development
- Ability to promote teamwork and motivate team members by establishing expectations, monitors and recognizes progress, and fosters a shared vision
- Ability to support the pharmacist-in-charge by communicating relevant health and wellness services or strategy information to team members and/or medical providers
