Job Summary
Evaluate medication orders for appropriateness of drug selection, dosage, interactions, and administration. Ensure medications are accurately prepared, dispensed, and labeled while maintaining controlled substance records and proper storage security. Recommend therapy changes to physicians and facility staff, investigate medication-related concerns, and communicate with nursing staff and healthcare professionals. Supervise preparation and dispensing processes and maintain customer records including medical history and laboratory data. Participate in on-call responsibilities as needed. This role supports a new Long-Term Care pharmacy location in Roanoke, VA, serving assisted living communities with personalized pharmaceutical services.
Required Qualifications
- Licensed Pharmacist in the State of Virginia
- 7-on/7-off rotation
- 10-hour shifts
- Monday through Sunday, every other week
- Enjoy a full week off between scheduled work weeks
Desired Qualifications
- Long-Term Care experience preferred
- Previous experience in hospital, retail, or other pharmacy practice settings preferred
- Strong analytical and critical thinking skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Proficiency with computer systems
- Experience with Framework/ECM software is a plus
