Job Summary
Pharmaceutical Medical Science Liaison – Dry Eye for Alcon. The role is part of the R&D function and focuses on presenting scientific and clinical information on Alcon products, engaging with medical experts and key opinion leaders, and gathering external insights to influence company strategies. Responsibilities include evidence-based scientific exchange, responding to medical information requests, discussing product data, managing investigator trials from inception to publication, maintaining comprehensive knowledge of Alcon products, coordinating with Med Info and Med Safety on safety issues, and signing off on product safety reviews. The role interfaces with Medical Affairs and multiple departments (Commercial, Regulatory, Quality Assurance, R&D, Market Access) and requires travel (50-60%). Adherence to GxP/SOPs and regulatory compliance is required. Preferred background includes MD/OD in Ophthalmology and extensive experience in ophthalmology/optometry and ECP-facing roles.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent years of related experience (or high school+15 yrs; Assoc.+11 yrs; M.S.+4 yrs; PhD+3 yrs)
- 7 Years of Relevant Experience
- MD or OD preferred in Ophthalmology
- Advanced knowledge of dry eye diseases and ophthalmic procedures
- Experience in ophthalmology/optometry field or clinical practice
- Experience in an ECP-facing role
- Working knowledge of healthcare system, ICH, GCP, and ethical guidelines
- Clinical trial design, product development, regulatory requirements, payer landscape, life cycle management
- Experience in scientific presentations and medical writing/biostatistics
