Job Summary
Residential Mortgage Loan (RML) Transaction Management Associate supports end-to-end execution of whole loan residential mortgage acquisitions from trade confirmation through funding, closing, collateral delivery, and post-close trailing documentation. Operates at the intersection of investments, operations, servicing, custodians, and counterparties to ensure operational precision, data integrity, and timely settlement. Utilizes AI, Power BI, and data tools to enhance transparency, scalability, and control. Hybrid role with 3 days in Newark, NJ office and 2 days remote. Responsibilities include reviewing trade confirmations, preparing allocations and funding schedules, coordinating with sellers/originators/servicers/trustees/custodians/bailees, tracking trade breaks and trailing documents, ensuring compliance with closing timelines and controls, managing bailee arrangements and collateral packages, overseeing trailing document pipelines, onboarding loans to servicers, supervising remittance and cash flow reconciliations, assessing early payoffs/early payment defaults and processing related payments, validating servicer reporting against cash flow models, reconciling data across systems, performing QA on data extracts and investor reporting, maintaining documentation, and leveraging Excel, Power BI, SQL, Python, and automation to improve workflows and scalability.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or related field
- 2–5+ years of experience in residential mortgage loan operations, RML transaction management, structured products, or asset management
- Direct experience executing RML purchases (experience on all steps from trade confirmation through closing strongly preferred)
- Hands-on exposure to RML bailments, custodial delivery, and trailing document management
- Strong understanding of mortgage loan cash flows, servicing practices, and collateral requirements
- Advanced Excel skills; experience with Power BI, SQL, Python, or AI-enabled tools strongly preferred
- Familiarity with Aladdin, loan management platforms, and accounting systems a plus
- Exceptional attention to detail and ownership mindset
- Strong project and transaction management skills
- Ability to manage multiple trades, timelines, and counterparties simultaneously
- Analytical, solutions-oriented approach to problem-solving
- Strong communication skills and comfort working cross-functionally
- Technically curious about automation, AI, and data-driven operations
