Job Summary

Conduct testing of bulk liquid or gaseous hydrocarbon cargo supervision services, including gauging, sampling, and reconciliation of transfers between shore tanks, barges, and ships. Physically sample, measure, and monitor vessel and shore tank temperatures using API procedures, then calculate and report transferred quantities while performing full reconciliation. Complete required reports via the Ship Inspection Report or Site Acceptance Test systems and coordinate with client representatives, US Customs, and vessel personnel. Maintain regular communication with business unit staff regarding job status and adhere to all safety standards, industry policies, and the SGS Code of Integrity.

Required Qualifications

  • High School or equivalent
  • 5+ years of transferrable industry experience
  • Valid Driver's License
  • Must maintain valid Driver's License and TWIC card once obtained through course of employment
  • Continues to gain knowledge and expertise in the profession
  • Uses existing procedures to solve routine or standard problems
  • Has no discretion to vary from established procedures by performing structured work assignments
  • English – Basic level
  • Basic level of proficiency with a good understanding of fractions and decimals
  • Intermediate level reasoning
  • Must be able to effectively present information and respond to questions from individuals and/or groups both within the organization or while representing the organization
  • Must be flexible with ability to accept changes in instructions on short notice
  • Must be dependable and reliable whose daily presence adds to the success of the Department
  • Must have a positive attitude and show eagerness to accomplish goals and achieve desired results while working independently or in a team setting
  • Ability to work independently with minimal or no supervision
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure, while performing numerous projects with different deadlines
  • Ability to synthesize information from a variety of sources into solutions
  • MS Office - Basic to Intermediate user proficiency

Desired Qualifications

  • Completion of internal Inspector Development Program Level
  • Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC)
  • International Federation of Inspection Agencies (IFIA) Certification
