Job Summary
Performs full grooming services for dogs and/or cats (bath, brush, grooming, nail trims, teeth brushing, and sanitary services) per PetSmart standards; engages with pet parents to recommend health and wellness solutions; manages the pet-parent experience and salon operations, including reservations, reminders, client records, and rebooking; greets clients, answers questions, and assists at the sales register; promotes salon sales and merchandise; maintains the highest level of cleanliness, sanitation, and humane care in the grooming area; responds to sick or injured pets and may transport to the vet; may assist in other departments; follows all company policies and procedures and participates in a culture of Belonging and Recognition; requires grooming experience or 6 months in Stylist-in-Training with Salon Academy training and safety certification or passes the salon technical evaluation; proficiency in computer applications; ability to work under pressure; schedule flexibility including evenings, weekends, and holidays; strong organizational, written, and verbal communication skills; essential physical demands include standing, walking, lifting up to 50 pounds regularly and up to 100+ pounds with team lift, exposure to live animals and pet hair with moderate to high noise; pay is the greater of the base pay rate or grooming pay and cannot be less than local minimum wage; benefits eligibility described by PetSmart.
Required Qualifications
- Prior grooming experience; or 6 months of experience in the Stylist in Training role with successful completion of PetSmart’s Salon Academy training and safety certification program or passes the salon technical evaluation.
- Proficiency in computer applications.
- Ability to react under pressure and maintain composure.
- Flexibility in schedule, able to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail and safety measures.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
