Job Summary
Pet Groomer (Pet Stylist for dogs and/or cats) performs a full menu of bath, brush, and grooming services and standalone services such as nail trims, teeth brushing, and sanitary services in accordance with PetSmart bath standards and procedures; engages with pet parents to recommend health and wellness solutions, schedules and confirms salon reservations, and maintains client records. Requires greeting customers, check-in/out procedures, and assisting with salon sales and merchandising while upholding cleanliness, sanitation, and humane handling of all pets. May transport a sick or injured pet to the vet as needed and assist in other departments. Promotes opportunities to grow salon sales and meets relevant salon metrics. Follows all company policies and procedures. This role requires grooming experience or completion of PetSmart’s Salon Academy training and safety certification program or passing the salon technical evaluation; proficiency with computers; ability to work under pressure; flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays; strong organizational and communication skills. Physical demands include standing, frequent lifting up to 50 pounds and occasional team lifts over 100 pounds, exposure to live animals and pet hair, and a moderate to high noise environment. Applicants must be 18+ and may be eligible for benefits if part-time per company policy.
Required Qualifications
- Grooming experience (prior) or 6 months of experience in the Stylist in Training role with successful completion of PetSmart’s Salon Academy training and safety certification program, or passes the salon technical evaluation
- Proficiency in computer applications
- Ability to react under pressure and maintain composure
- Flexibility in schedule, able to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail and safety measures
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Must be at least 18 years old
