Job Summary
Lead your team through daily operations, assigning tasks, answering questions, and coaching employees to ensure exceptional care for every dog. Supervise playgroups, monitor behavior, maintain safety standards, administer medications, assist with feedings, and keep the facility clean. Handle dogs of all sizes and temperaments while staying calm during busy shifts and solving problems before they escalate. Work active, hands-on shifts including mornings, evenings, and weekends, standing, lifting up to 50 pounds, and following sanitation procedures. This full-time role at Playful Pups Retreat in Elizabethtown, PA, offers growth into Assistant Manager or General Manager positions within a supportive, drama-free environment focused on trust and teamwork.
Required Qualifications
- At least 18 years old
- Experienced handling dogs professionally
- Comfortable working with dogs of all sizes and temperaments
- Reliable, punctual, and highly accountable
- A strong communicator and positive team leader
- Calm, confident, and compassionate under pressure
- Able to multitask and make sound decisions in a fast-paced environment
- Available to work every other weekend and select major holidays
- Must be able to stand and walk for extended periods
- Must be able to bend, twist, squat, and kneel frequently
- Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds
- Must be able to work both indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions
- Must be able to safely handle dogs of all sizes, including dogs that may jump or pull on leash
- Must be able to consistently follow established handling and sanitation procedures
Desired Qualifications
- Previous experience in a dog daycare, boarding facility, veterinary clinic, grooming facility, shelter, or dog training environment
- Prior leadership or supervisory experience
