Job Summary
Deliver high-level customer service to patrons relinquishing animals, providing daily animal evaluation, medical care, and end-of-life services. Administer vaccinations and medications, perform behavior and health evaluations, and safely handle or restrain animals of various sizes. Interview patrons to create records in the Chameleon database, reconcile daily financial transactions, and coordinate care across shelter departments. Clean and sanitize intake areas while adhering to strict safety protocols for animals and the public. Manage emotionally difficult situations and euthanasia tasks as directed. Work evening, weekend, and holiday shifts at the Buddy Center in Castle Rock, supporting Humane Colorado's mission to end pet homelessness.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or Equivalent
- Valid driver's license and insurable driving record
- Ability to work independently while following specific procedures and protocols
- Ability to follow timelines for projects, accomplish multiple tasks, and maintain flexibility in a dynamic work environment
- High level of personal responsibility, attention to detail, and punctuality
- Strong interpersonal communication skills and ability to effectively work in a team environment
- Strong customer service skills
- Ability to work evening, weekends, and/or holidays
- Frequent lifting of animals and objects up to 50 lbs.
- Occasional lifting up to 75 lbs.
Desired Qualifications
- Training in social work/communications
- Professional experience in animal welfare/ working with animals
- Knowledge of veterinary care/animal health
- Experience providing high level of service to customers
- Experience working with Chameleon database
- Demonstrated ability to work in a fast-paced environment
