Personal Training Manager

Job Summary
Lead a team of up to 15 Personal Trainers by conducting regular one-on-one meetings, overseeing program execution, and managing hiring and onboarding processes. Maintain an active personal training schedule while filling coverage gaps and ensuring trainers adhere to company policies and safety procedures. Manage trainer schedules to align with member demand, monitor key performance metrics, and serve as a point of contact for member feedback to drive engagement and retention. Assist in designing fitness challenges and promoting training services through on-floor interactions to support revenue growth. Maintain accurate documentation of sessions and billing, ensuring facility cleanliness and compliance with operational guidelines.
Required Qualifications
- Must be at least 18 years of age
- High School diploma or equivalent
- Must maintain an active Personal Training Certification (NCCA-accredited) or Bachelor's degree in exercise science or kinesiology
- CPR/AED certification
- Minimum of 1 year of experience in personal training, group fitness, or fitness leadership
- Strong leadership, communication, and customer service skills
- Ability to inspire and develop a team
- Business acumen and a results-driven mindset
- Basic computer skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office
- Familiarity with Excel's mission, values, vision, and culture, as well as the Planet Fitness brand and operational requirements
- Ability to think critically and evaluate solutions to problems proactively
- Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word, DataTrak, and other related applications
- Must be team-oriented, motivated, and well-organized
- Must have the ability to handle sensitive and confidential information
- Must frequently lift and move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and move objects up to 75 pounds
- Specific vision abilities including close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus
- Up to 5% travel
- Must be available to work weekends and/or overnights as needed
Desired Qualifications
- Associate's degree
- Equivalent related work experience or combination of experience and education in lieu of Associate's degree
- Previous management or supervisory experience
- Demonstrate the ability, confidence, and leadership to run a successful small group session with members
