Job Summary
Develop fitness regimens to meet member needs while demonstrating proper equipment use and exercise form. Support members in their fitness routines, monitor their progress on equipment, and audit overall member advancement. Design and lead specialty programs as required, assist in touring prospective members, and bridge clients into broader Health and Wellness department services. Maintain all areas in a clean, presentable fashion and provide outstanding member service. Must be available for morning shifts from 8:00-11:00am at the Visser Family YMCA. Requires a Bachelor's degree in anatomy, kinesiology, exercise science, or biomechanics, or equivalent experience, along with NASM, NSCA, ACE, or ISSA certification. Full access to facilities is included as a benefit.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree (BA) from four-year college or university
- degrees in anatomy, kinesiology, exercise science, or biomechanics preferred
- one to two years fitness, instructional, or personal training experience required
- Ability to interact with people of all ethnic backgrounds, ages, and lifestyles
- Experience working with the senior population, preferred
- Ability to actively take part and lead fitness activities
- Must take part in and pass the YMCA of Greater Grand Rapids' Wellness Employee Quality Assessment (WEQA)
- Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)
- First Aid Certification
- AED-Oxygen Certification
- Blood Borne Pathogen training
- State of Michigan criminal background clearance (ICHAT)
- NASM, NSCA, NCSF, ACE, YMCAPT, ACSM, or ISSA certification
Desired Qualifications
