Job Summary

Personal Trainer is responsible for delivering high-quality private and small group training sessions (predominantly group training) to clients of all fitness levels, designing customized training programs, and helping clients move better, feel better, and perform better. Group sessions are scheduled Tue and Thu 6am-12pm and Sat 7:30am-11:30am (approx 16 hrs per week); private training opportunities may be available. The role emphasizes proper movement patterns, injury prevention, and ongoing progress tracking, client engagement and community building, ongoing professional development, and adherence to evidence-based exercise practices. Responsibilities include designing programs, conducting sessions, tracking progress, educating clients on technique and wellness, fostering a motivating training environment, promoting client retention, maintaining safety, and staying current with trends in fitness and movement science. Requires a Bachelor’s degree (preferred), nationally recognized certification, CPR/AED certification, 1-2 years of PT experience, and exceptional communication and motivational skills. Base salary varies by location and experience; benefits are provided for eligible staff (30+ hours/week). Illinois Bone and Joint Institute, LLC is an equal opportunity employer.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Kinesiology, Exercise Science, Sports Performance, or a related field (preferred)
  • Nationally recognized certification (NSCA, ACSM, ACE, NASM, or equivalent)
  • CPR/AED certification (required)
  • Minimum of 1-2 years of personal training experience (or relevant internship experience)
  • Strong knowledge of human movement, biomechanics, and injury prevention
  • Excellent communication and motivational skills
  • Ability to customize workouts for individuals with varying fitness levels and physical conditions
  • Ability to demonstrate exercises effectively and adapt movement patterns for client needs
  • Regularly required to stand, walk, lift, push, pull, squat, kneel, or balance
  • Lift up to 75 pounds and assist clients with equipment
