Job Summary
Instruct members in proper strength training principles and fitness evaluation within individual or small group settings. Design and implement personal fitness programs for all populations while educating and enforcing operational guidelines and regulations. Maintain weight training equipment, keep facilities organized and clean, and respond to member questions. Check communication logs before shifts, administer first aid, and report suspicious activity. Follow all orientation policies, attend staff meetings, and model key leadership competencies. Complete required certifications within 90 days of hire.
Required Qualifications
- Must be at least 18 years old
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Current YMCA approved National Personal Trainer Certification
- Knowledgeable in exercise program design and equipment and free weight training principles
- Ability to articulate and communicate effectively while instructing participants in proper execution of weight bearing and cardiovascular exercise
- Current knowledge of strength training guidelines
- Ability to modify exercises for special populations when needed
- Positive attitude
- Ability to work independently
- Ability to conduct, demonstrate and safely develop programs at the intensity level appropriate for each participant on an individual basis
- Effective communication and human relations skills
- Ability to stand for extended periods of time
- Ability to lift, push, pull, and or carry up to 50 lbs in various forms
- Ability to administer first aid
- Authorization to work in the U.S.
