Job Summary
Assist patients with activities of daily living including feeding, lifts, transfers, bathing, skin care, oral hygiene, and toileting. Perform tasks delegated by registered nurses or registered practical nurses in compliance with hospital policies, which may involve procedures under the dermis. Communicate basic information according to the patient's Plan of Care and ensure a safe environment by reporting and documenting unsafe conditions, equipment failures, and patient behavioral or cognitive changes. Complete and maintain patient records and progress notes as per hospital policy. Maintain current registration with the Health and Supportive Care Providers Oversight Authority and hold a Basic Cardiac Life Support Certificate. Work up to 24 hours per week across day, evening, night, or stat shifts at Toronto Western Hospital.
Required Qualifications
- Current registration with the Health and Supportive Care Providers Oversight Authority (HSCPOA)
- Current Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) Certificate
- Ability to handle daily mild to moderate physical exertion (i.e. constant standing, walking, climbing, reaching and frequent movement) on an occasional to frequent basis
- Good attendance record
Desired Qualifications
- Behavioral management training (such as PIECES, U-First, CPI)
- Acute care and/or previous rehab experience
- Excellent computer skills
