Job Summary
Provides direct personal and nursing care to residents in a long-term care setting, assisting with ambulation, feeding, bathing and grooming; supports participation in activity programs; delivers meal service and feeding assistance; provides emotional and social support including palliative care; adheres to departmental policies, documents and participates in care planning; requires a PSW program with 600 hours and current vulnerable sector check/TB test; able to work independently or as part of a team and communicate effectively with staff, residents and families.
Required Qualifications
- Completed a PSW Program that meets the standards established by the Ministry of Training, Colleges and Universities, the National Association of Career Colleges, or the Ontario Community Support Association and must be a minimum of 600 hours in duration (including class time and practical experience time)
- A negative vulnerable sector check completed within 6 months of start date.
- Completion of a 2 Step TB Skin test within the last 12 months of start date.
- Ability to read and write English and understand verbal and written instructions in English.
