Job Summary
Provide compassionate support for clients with mental health and substance use challenges, including medication reminders, health monitoring, and assistance with activities of daily living such as hygiene, mobility, and meal preparation. Build respectful relationships that promote dignity and independence while engaging clients in social and recreational activities. Ensure a safe environment by following health and safety procedures, responding to emergencies, and maintaining accurate care records for interdisciplinary team collaboration. Assist with program operations, transportation for client outings, and basic administrative tasks as assigned. Work rotating evening and weekend shifts from Friday through Sunday with 8-hour coverage, supporting the specialized assisted living and respite program in downtown Toronto.
Required Qualifications
- Post-secondary education in Human Services or a related field (e.g., PSW Certificate, Gerontology Diploma)
- Experience supporting seniors and vulnerable populations, including individuals with cognitive and mental health needs
- Knowledge of medication administration, health conditions, and psychiatric care
- Current First Aid and CPR certification
- Physically able to perform demanding body mechanics (e.g. lifting, transferring, etc.)
- A satisfactory vulnerable sector check (VSC)
- Flexibility to accommodate operational needs
- Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team
- Effective verbal and written communication skills
- Demonstrated creativity, flexibility, and adaptability
- Proficiency with basic computer applications
Desired Qualifications
- Experience coordinating social and recreational activities
- A valid Ontario Driver's License
