Job Summary
Personal Support Worker (PSW) role in North Bay, ON, Canada. Direct client care in home or facility setting, including assisting with bathing/dressing, companionship, outings/exercise, basic meal prep, light housekeeping, medication reminders, and support within client care plans. Requires recognized PSW certification or related healthcare credentials, Canadian driver’s license with reliable vehicle, ability to lift 50 lbs, immunizations and background checks, and strong English communication; offers flexible part-time and full-time schedules, paid orientation/training, and employee referral program.
Required Qualifications
- Valid Personal Support Worker Certificate from a Ministry of Training, Colleges, and Universities or the Ministry of Education approved program
- RN/RPN, Paramedic, Occupational Therapy and Physiotherapy student with a minimum successful completion of year one of the program
- Holds a valid certificate as a Home Support Worker (level II or III), Health Care Aide, or Personal Attendant
- Holds a valid certificate as a Developmental Support Worker
- Internationally licensed Nurse, Midwife or Physician
- Valid G2/G driver's license and access to a reliable car
- Physical ability to stand, bend, walk, crouch, kneel and reach, ability to lift 50lbs (23 kg) independently, ability to assist clients with standing, walking, and sitting; ability to reposition clients in bed
- Valid Standard First Aid and Level C CPR
- Updated immunization records (including completion of a two-step tuberculosis test within the last 6 months)
- Clear criminal background check, and Vulnerable sector check are required upon hire
- Ability to interact with others in a caring, tactful and courteous manner
- Proficient verbal and written English communication skills
- Ability to use computer and phone applications
- Vulnerable Sector Check completed within the last six months
- Submission of proof of three COVID vaccinations
- TB test completed within 6 months to a year
- Immunization record
- Up-to-date CPR and First Aid certification
