Job Summary
Provide personal care, including bathing, toileting, and physical assistance, to promote resident comfort and safety. Administer procedures such as enemas, collect specimens, record vital signs, and report findings to registered staff. Maintain a clean environment by making beds, cleaning units, managing linen, and removing unsafe objects. Assist with restorative care, ambulation, feeding, and palliative needs while encouraging participation in activities. Support admission, discharge, and transfers, and offer emotional and social support. Document care activities in PCC software and ensure compliance with Health & Safety and peopleCare policies. Work under the direction of a Registered Nurse/Registered Practical Nurse, reporting unit activities and problems to the supervisor.
Required Qualifications
- Must have successfully completed a Personal Support Worker program that meets requirements set by the Ministry of Colleges and Universities for an Ontario postsecondary institution or district school board (Sec. 52 in O. Reg. 246/22)
- High School diploma or equivalent
- Must possess strong written and oral communication skills
- Demonstrated organizational and time management skills
- Strong interpersonal and customer-focused skills
- Must have demonstrated sound skills and knowledge of providing personal care duties
- Ability to perform tasks that are necessary for the position, e.g., lifting/transferring clients
Desired Qualifications
- Experience in Long-Term Care considered an asset
