Job Summary
In-home Personal Support Specialist (PSS) role in Ellsworth, ME providing non-medical care to older adults and individuals with disabilities. Responsibilities include assisting with personal care (bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, hygiene), mobility and transfers, light housekeeping and meal-related tasks, companionship, documenting care per plan, and following safety and infection-control guidelines. Requires independent work in clients’ homes, adherence to client service plans, and maintaining confidentiality under HIPAA. Training and supervision provided; positions available at both full-time and part-time schedules with flexible shifts. Certifications in Maine or enrollment in a PSS program within 60 days are required or preferred; CNA experience/certification accepted. Salary range is $17.00-$20.00 per hour, with annualized minimum $35,360 and maximum $41,600 depending on experience and certifications.
Required Qualifications
- Must be at least 17 years of age
- Active PSS certification in the State of Maine, OR willingness to enroll in a PSS training program within 60 days of hire
- CNA (active or inactive) accepted
- No experience required - training and support provided
- High School Diploma or GED preferred
- Ability to work independently
- Physical ability to assist with mobility and daily activities
- Strong communication skills
- Access to a working cell phone for scheduling and documentation
- Reliable transportation and valid driver's license preferred (assignment dependent)
