Job Summary
The Personal Support Specialist provides adults with disabilities opportunities to be meaningfully engaged in the community by helping them discover and pursue new interests, plan and attend activities and appointments, develop independence skills, and participate in meaningful relationships. Responsibilities include coordinating daily/weekly schedules, communicating changes to the team, guiding self-advocacy, ensuring proper dress and grooming, facilitating access to community resources, implementing the Individual’s Plan, promoting rights and self-determination, and transporting clients to activities within the community. The role requires following medical/dental orders as directed, attending medical appointments when necessary, and assisting with general healthcare needs in collaboration with licensed professionals. This position is part-time with evening and weekend hours (e.g., Friday 6:00 PM–8:30 PM, Saturday 8:00 AM–2:30 PM, Sunday 9:00 AM–3:30 PM) at Temple Hills, MD. Candidate must meet education and experience requirements and hold a valid driver’s license.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent (verification of foreign equivalency required)
- One year of experience supporting persons with disabilities and/or behaviorally challenged
- Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) or equivalent plus
- Must possess a full, valid local driver's license and the ability to maintain a good driving record
