Job Summary
Own a personal docket of 80–100 files, primarily in pre-litigation. Handle motor vehicle collisions, dog bites, premises liability, and occasional medical malpractice. Draft and negotiate demand letters and settlement packages. File and litigate cases as needed: pleadings, discovery, depositions, mediations, trial prep. Maintain regular client communication by phone, email, and text. Coordinate with paralegal and legal assistant support staff. Provide high-empathy counsel to individuals in crisis. Explain legal processes clearly across all educational levels. Deliver honest, tactful guidance about case value and strategy. Build rapport with opposing counsel and insurance reps. Meet firm metrics for demand packages, case progression, and client outcomes. Independently manage files without constant supervision. Adopt and implement the practice group’s standardized systems. Contribute to a culture of collaboration and shared problem-solving.
Required Qualifications
- Active license in Texas (required)
- 5+ years of legal practice experience (civil litigation or insurance defense) is preferred
- Experience with plaintiff-side PI is a plus, but not required
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- High emotional intelligence and client-facing maturity
- Ability to balance empathy with assertiveness
- Stability in prior roles (no frequent job-hopping)
- Clear, confident courtroom and negotiation presence
