Job Summary
Design personalized fitness programs tailored to specific client goals, including providing fitness assessments, training with clients, and re-evaluating progress on a continuing basis. Assess client needs subjectively and objectively, select evaluative tests, and develop long and short-term goals with follow-up. Demonstrate exercise execution, defend rationale for program design, and generate new clients through the orientation process. Submit contracts for approval, maintain the training area's safety, and promote special events and facility programs. Adhere to safety policies, attend staff meetings, and represent RFC positively to internal and external guests.
Required Qualifications
- At least 20 years of age
- Current nationally recognized certification for personal fitness training
- Current CPR certification
- Ability to problem solve in response to clients' needs
- Ability to judge situations that require assistance and respond appropriately
- Ability to communicate effectively with proper vocabulary and appropriate techniques to check comprehension and technique of client
- Prescribe a fitness regimen
- Knowledge of exercise physiology and biomechanics of movements
- Understand equipment in fitness center and demonstrate proper and correct usage
- Work well with clients and other personal training staff
- Overall knowledge of what is current in fitness industry, keeping abreast of new trends
- Extended periods of time in Fitness Center and demonstrations and mechanics
- Minimal - when required for demonstrations
- Some - must be able to demonstrate treadmill
- Some - must be able to demonstrate machines that involve lifting a bar or weights
- Must be able to demonstrate machines that include reaching bar
- Must be able to demonstrate stair-climbing machine
- Must be able to communicate effective and proper instructions
- Must be able to visually assess clients' form during exercise instruction and participation
Desired Qualifications
- Degree in Exercise Science, Physical Education or related field preferred
