Job Summary
Provide comprehensive personal financial counseling and education at military installations for service members and their families. Responsibilities include one-on-one and group counseling, briefings/presentations, development of spending plans, creation and distribution of informational materials, coordinating and publicizing Personal Financial Management classes, and utilizing virtual counseling tools as needed. Works with installation leadership and POC to ensure program scope, conducts counseling across life events (arrival, deployment, post-deployment, career events), and responds to requests for age-appropriate classes. Requires strong communication, DoD protocol familiarity, and ability to deliver in-person and virtual services; credentialed financial planning certifications (AFC/CFP/ChFC) are supported and may be required by contract. The role emphasizes ethical, compliant service delivery, ongoing professional development, and collaboration with DoD-relevant requirements and security policies.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or higher; or combination of education and work experience as described
- 3+ years of financial counseling experience
- U.S. citizenship or eligible to work in the United States
- English fluency; bilingual in English and Spanish if required by contract
- AFC, CFP, or ChFC certifications ( Accredited Financial Counselor, Certified Financial Planner, Chartered Financial Consultant) optional or preferred
- Ability to obtain Tier 2 investigation
- Ability to pass the Congressionally Mandated Disclosures for Organizational Conflicts of Interest (OCI) process
- Valid in-state Driver's License (DL) preferred
