Job Summary
Provide full-breadth personal financial counseling services to military service members and families at installations, including one-on-one sessions, briefings, presentations, and referrals. Conduct spending plan development for extended absences, coordinate and deliver financial management workshops covering the military lifecycle, and respond to requests for age-appropriate classes. Utilize virtual counseling modes via secure online chat or video teleconference when authorized by OSD FINRED. Manage duty-to-warn situations per DoD protocol and communicate trends to leadership through regular supervision and in-services. Maintain a favorable Tier 2 investigation and hold AFC, CFP, or ChFC certification.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree
- 3+ years of financial counseling experience
- U.S. citizen
- Fluent English
- Bilingual in English and Spanish (if required by contract)
- Favorably adjudicated Tier 2 investigation
- Pass Congressionally Mandated Disclosures for Organizational Conflicts of Interest (OCI) process
- Accredited Financial Counselor (AFC) certification
- Certified Financial Planner (CFP) certification
- Chartered Financial Consultant (ChFC) certification
- Valid Driver License in State
Desired Qualifications
- Associate degree plus 4 years' experience in lieu of bachelor's degree
- High school diploma plus 6 years' experience in lieu of a bachelor's degree
- Accredited Financial Counselor (AFC) certification
- Certified Financial Planner (CFP) certification
- Chartered Financial Consultant (ChFC) certification
