Job Summary
Provide full-breadth personal financial counseling to military service members and families at installations, including one-on-one sessions, commander consultations, briefings, and referrals. Develop spending plans for extended absences and coordinate workshops covering the military lifecycle per DoDI 1322.34. Utilize virtual counseling tools and electronic communications when authorized by OSD FINRED. Manage duty-to-warn situations per DoD protocol and communicate trends to leadership through regular supervision. This Assignment Ready role covers short-term, surge, and on-demand situations resulting from post-deployment events or counselor absences. A Bachelor's degree and 3+ years of financial counseling experience are required, along with AFC, CFP, or ChFC certification.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree
- 3+ years of financial counseling experience
- U.S. citizen
- Fluent English
- Bilingual in English and Spanish (if required by the contract)
- Favorably adjudicated Tier 2 investigation
- Pass the Congressionally Mandated Disclosures for Organizational Conflicts of Interest (OCI) process
- Accredited Financial Counselor (AFC) certification
- Certified Financial Planner (CFP) certification
- Chartered Financial Consultant (ChFC) certification
- Valid Driver License in State
Desired Qualifications
- Associate degree plus 4 years' experience in lieu of bachelor's degree
- High school diploma plus 6 years' experience in lieu of a bachelor's degree
- Possess the skills to effectively utilize virtual counseling or other electronic modes of communication, such as web based, secure online chat, or video-based communications and secure video teleconference
