Job Summary
Deliver undergraduate Personal Finance instruction for performing artists in person on the NY campus, meeting two days per week for 2-hour sessions. Create and maintain a learning environment emphasizing critical thinking, diversity, and inclusion while utilizing Canvas for course delivery. Evaluate student progress, maintain accurate academic records, and uphold professional ethics in accordance with established curricula. Maintain current subject matter knowledge and fulfill part-time adjunct responsibilities including related duties as assigned. Candidates must hold a terminal degree in finance or related fields, possess CFP or CFA certifications, and demonstrate experience teaching irregular income streams.
Required Qualifications
- Terminal degree in finance, business, accounting, economics, or a related field
- A minimum of two-three years of teaching in the related field Finance, in a post-secondary setting
- Experience in financial planning, investment management, or accounting, preferably with a focus on individuals with irregular income streams, freelancers, or entrepreneurs
- Demonstrated success teaching at the college level
- Recent teaching experience in higher education
- Knowledge and experience in using instructional technology, Blackboard Ultra Learning Management System
- Currency and depth of knowledge in the applicable field
- Knowledge of and commitment to teaching strategies and practices that enhance student success at higher education institutions, including effective use of technology
- Excellent oral/written communication skills and interpersonal skills
Desired Qualifications
- MBA, Ph.D. in Finance, Business or a related field
- Certified Financial Planner certifications such as Certified Financial Planner (CFP) or Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA)
- Understand the unique financial challenges faced by Performing Artists
- Experience in financial planning, investment management, or accounting, preferably with a focus on Performing Artists with irregular income streams, freelancers, or entrepreneurs
- Candidates with teaching experience and expertise in the Performing Arts Industry is an additional area highly desired
- Successful candidates will be able to apply their discipline expertise in a manner/context that is relevant to emerging performing artists, in an synchronous online environment and through the LMS
- Active scholarship in related field
