Job Summary

Facilitate financial literacy programming aligned to FLY's curriculum during the school day, after school, and in community-based settings across New York City. Customize lessons to meet student needs while maintaining fidelity to learning objectives and ensure inclusive, interactive classroom environments. Collaborate with site personnel, school administrators, and teachers to support program logistics and integrate instruction into the instructional day. Complete session summaries, student engagement logs, and pre/post assessments to track progress and support program improvement. Attend instructional team meetings, share best practices, and participate in curriculum reviews. Represent FLY at community events and assist in mentoring new educators. This part-time role requires consistent weekday availability during school hours with variable hours fluctuating based on programming demands from September through June.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Education, Finance, Youth Development, or a related field
  • 1-3 years of teaching, training, or youth facilitation experience
  • Strong content knowledge in personal finance or willingness to be trained
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills with youth and adults
  • Ability to adapt to diverse environments and learning needs
  • Basic financial literacy and numeracy skills
  • Ability to adapt curriculum to meet student needs
  • Strong classroom management and problem-solving skills
  • Proficiency in Google Workspace or Microsoft Office
  • Frequent problem solving
  • Strong written and verbal communication
  • High level of organization and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to concentrate and maintain focus
  • Creativity in instructional delivery
  • Flexibility to work with interruptions
  • Ability to stand and walk for portions of the day
  • Ability to sit for extended periods
  • Frequent talking and listening
  • Use of hands for handling materials and technology
  • Occasional reaching with arms
  • May occasionally lift up to 10 pounds

  • Must be able to pass a background check consistent with partner school requirements

  • Regular travel required to school and community sites across the five boroughs

Desired Qualifications

  • Experience in New York City schools or community-based organizations preferred
  • Bilingual capability preferred, particularly Spanish
