Job Summary
Assist the teacher by monitoring and assisting special needs students in the classroom and during activities to ensure quality instruction in a safe environment. Responsibilities include administering scores/records, working with individuals or small groups, developing materials to match student abilities, implementing strategies tailored to individual needs, operating classroom equipment, supporting student independence and mobility, assisting with therapy/medication/behavioral plans as directed, ensuring safety, collaborating with parents/doctors/nurses/therapists, performing clerical duties, maintaining confidentiality, and supporting ongoing professional development.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Experience working with physically and/or behaviorally disabled children
- Preferred NC License to drive a school bus or the ability to get one
