Job Summary
Accompany students throughout the school day to ensure safety, assist with mobility, and support access to the curriculum. Provide constant observation, intervention, and assistance with basic human functions including toileting, feeding, and medication administration. Collaborate with teachers to monitor therapy, collect daily data, and perform clerical duties while maintaining student confidentiality. Maintain a clean, orderly environment and follow emergency procedures as needed. Requires ability to lift up to 80 pounds and stand for extended periods.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum high school diploma
- Some experience working with physically and/or behaviorally disabled children
- Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA)
- Must be able to exert physical effort necessary to frequently or constantly lift, carry, push, pull, toilet, transfer, diaper and feed assigned student
- Must be able to exert up to 80 pounds of force occasionally, and up to 30 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects and/or students
- Must be able to stand for an extended period of time
- Must be able to stoop, squat, bend, twist, stretch, turn, lift, and carry
- Must be able to follow written and verbal directions
- Must be courteous and pleasant with students, parents, faculty and staff
- Must be able to follow procedures in the event of an emergency
- Ability to constantly monitor the safety and well-being of students
- Ability to motivate students
- Ability to maintain clean and orderly environment
- Ability to perform general clerical duties
Desired Qualifications
- Should have general knowledge of activities performed by classroom teachers
- General knowledge of daily routines and student handbook rules
