Personal Care Aide

Job Summary

Assist residents with bathing, toileting, dressing, grooming, and feeding while maintaining privacy and dignity. Observe and promptly report changes in resident condition, including skin integrity, mood, and safety risks. Follow infection control practices, maintain a safe environment by identifying fall risks, and complete timely documentation per policy. Communicate with residents, families, and staff to coordinate care and participate in shift handoffs and care plan updates. Support person-centered goals promoting independence and resident engagement. Full-time onsite role five days a week with evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.

Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Basic English communication skills (verbal and written)
  • Ability to follow written care plans and verbal instructions accurately
  • Must be able to assist with transfers and mobility support
  • Ability to lift/push/pull per job needs (often up to 35–50lbs. with proper techniques/equipment)
  • Must follow PPE and universal precautions
  • Schedule may include evenings, weekends, and holidays depending on resident needs

Desired Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED preferred
  • Home Health Aide (HHA) certification (state-approved)
  • Personal Care Aide (PCA) certification or completion of an approved training program
  • CPR/First Aid certification
  • Willingness to obtain CPR/First Aid certification within a specified timeframe
  • Minimum 1 year experience aiding older adults or individuals with disabilities
  • Experience working with dementia, mobility limitations, and/or chronic health conditions
  • Bilingual skills
