Job Summary
Provide one-on-one support to scholars with disabilities in an urban charter-school setting, assisting with classwork, implementing IEPs, guiding behavior using approved techniques, documenting changes in student health or behavior, supervising activities and transportation, and collaborating with teachers and support staff to address individual student needs. The role includes facilitating inclusive education, maintaining safe environments during meals, gym, field trips, and bus arrivals/departures, and participating in IEP/Evaluation-Report meetings and ongoing training.
Required Qualifications
- High School diploma or equivalent (GED)
- Ability to work with children with disabilities at different age levels
- Some experience in rearing and supervising
- Acceptable criminal history background check and proof of U.S. citizenship or legal resident alien status
- Bring a spirit of enthusiasm, energy, and multi-cultural awareness
- Possess strong written and oral communication skills
- Utilize proper discretion in dealing with confidential matters
- Work well without close supervision and with little direction
- Be adaptable to performing under stress and when confronted with emergency situations
