Job Summary
Personal Auto Underwriter role focusing on reviewing and processing personal auto policies, ensuring compliance with state regulations, and delivering exceptional service to agents and policyholders. Responsibilities include handling quotes, endorsements, renewals and inquiries; processing new business submissions; maintaining knowledge of coverages, underwriting guidelines, rating plans, exposures, and regulatory requirements; ordering and reviewing underwriting reports; supporting onboarding and training of new staff; and contributing to process improvements. Requires experience in personal auto insurance, ability to obtain/hold a P&C license, strong data entry (30 WPM), and ability to manage multiple priorities; familiarity with underwriting systems and regulatory documentation is preferred.
Required Qualifications
- Previous experience in Personal Auto Insurance
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills
- Ability to obtain a Property & Casualty license by successfully passing state-required examinations
- Accurate typing and data entry skills with a minimum speed of 30 WPM
- Ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining attention to detail
- Preferred: College degree or equivalent industry experience
- Active Property & Casualty License
- Experience using online underwriting systems
- Knowledge of personal auto underwriting practices and insurance regulations
