Job Summary
Permitting Specialist to support permitting strategy and manage permitting processes for utility-scale solar PV and energy storage projects across the U.S. Responsibilities include preparing and submitting permitting applications, coordinating with federal, state, and local permitting authorities, assisting in managing relationships with external consultants and legal/environmental experts, supporting public hearings and regulatory briefings, and tracking permitting documentation across active project portfolios. The role requires collaboration with Development, Engineering, and Legal teams, the ability to navigate regulatory requirements (including NEPA, CEQA, and related statutes), and travel up to 25% with the option to base remotely in the U.S. Reports to the Permitting Manager and may involve engagement with the Bay Area headquarters.
Required Qualifications
- 2-4 years of permitting, environmental compliance, or land use planning experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Urban Planning, Geography, or a related field; or equivalent relevant experience
- Working knowledge of local, state, and federal permitting regulations (NEPA, Clean Water Act, Endangered Species Act); CEQA experience a plus
- Experience supporting or managing environmental reviews, impact studies, and land use permitting applications
- Willingness to travel up to 25%
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Proficiency with GIS tools (e.g., ArcGIS, QGIS) and permitting tracking software
